Trump Administration Officials Revise Biden-Era Sex Discrimination Rules.”

Amerika -News.tv.alqodi Nusantara.com 28/9/2026 The Trump administration in the United States stated yesterday on Monday that they have revoked a Biden-era policy that expanded the federal ban on sex discrimination in schools to also protect LGBTQ+ individuals, a change that triggered warnings from sexual assault survivor advocates in the country.

In a statement, Education Secretary Linda McMahon said the change codifies how the Trump administration enforces Title IX, the federal law that prohibits sex discrimination in education programs funded by the federal government.
“Under today’s action, the published Title IX regulations faithfully reflect court decisions and congressional intent — reducing confusion for parents, students, and educational institutions,” Mrs. McMahon said. “We will continue to vigorously fight for equal opportunity for all Americans and hold accountable any school or college that violates the rights, privacy, or athletic opportunities of our women and girls.”

However, several advocacy activists for sexual assault survivors stated that the rule goes further than just overturning protections for gay and transgender students.
They added that the move also reverses changes from the Biden administration, which had previously expanded the scope of sexual harassment complaints that schools are required to investigate.
For instance, the Biden administration’s rule replaced a narrower definition of sex-based harassment from the first Trump administration and overturned the requirement that schools only investigate incidents reported on their campuses. The Biden rule required educators to investigate any allegations of sexual misconduct at school events or activities, regardless of whether the incident occurred on or off campus.

The Biden-era rule, which was drafted through a three-year process and drew 240,000 public comments, also lowered the burden of proof previously pushed by the first Trump administration, allowing schools to use the ‘preponderance of evidence’ standard that enables administrators to determine whether sexual violence most likely occurred in this country.
Religious leaders hope that sexual abuse or misconduct, which is forbidden by religious law, will be prevented, and the public expects that no actions will be taken that violate religious norms
